My School Bullet Journal
As that dreaded time of year approaches, and everyone is getting ready to go back to school, I had to start thinking of how I would keep track of my assignments and tasks throughout the year. Last year, I used a regular old planner from Target and loved it, but this year I decided to go big and do a full bullet journal for school, partly because I want complete freedom, and since that is lacking in high school, I figured I should try and get it any way I can; and also because it's so fun to do.
I got the Leuchtturm1917, because it was the only one at the store. I was a bit hesitant about getting such a pricey notebook, but it is very high quality, with strong binding and pages that don't bleed color. The book also has two bookmarking ribbons, which is great because I've found I have to mark the monthly and weekly pages I am on, and have resorted to using paper or binder clips, which make it hard to close. I put a little A24 sticker I got from Redbubble on the cover, because I thought it went well with the color.
For my cover page, I simply put the year, and a quote from La La Land ("Who knows where it will lead us, and that's why they need us"). I then decorated it with little dots.
I do not have my schedule yet, but I have a place where it will go, and I also made a yearly calendar, so I can visualize what's ahead. Beside each month, I wrote down days off, birthdays, and other important events. Because school starts the last week of August, I put that month down, not realizing I then wouldn't have space for June, so I just left June off completely.
I have a little page for my goals, each with a checkbox beside them. I may have written them too small, because now I feel the need to fill the entire page, which would be wholly overwhelming.
Now we're getting to the fun part. This is my monthly spread for September. I have a Fall theme, because I am ready for cozy sock and fun hat season to begin. I have a calendar marked with the blue and gold days, my habit tracker, mood tracker, goals, favorites, and To-Dos, and, at the top, a graph where I will track my steps, hours of phone, and productivity each day.
For the first week I did a simple box pattern with a quote about fall by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the empty corner.
For the second week, I chose the across structure, and decorated it with washi tape and Fall-y things.
This one is my favorite. I accented the edge with washi tape, and kept the design really simple by only using green and black. At the bottom, I copied some light bulb doodles from Pinterest. I think it has a nice simplicity but also a hipster vibe.
And the final one. I kept the across structure because I think that works best for me, and added washi tape and cats for decoration. I know that I need to have the day of the week and the date visible, which is a pitfall of the previous page (the date is there, just small.)
I am excited to use this throughout the year, and it makes going back to school just a tiny bit more bearable.
